I wanted to write to you and let you know what put a dent in my business in 2010, and perhaps it'll help you out for 2011.
Recently I've been getting emails and messages on Facebook asking, 'What's going on? Why haven't I heard from you?'.
And truth be told, (more...)
Hey there,
So, I recently asked you, my dear subscribers to fill out a quick survey. (If you're not on my list, you can sign up on the right hand side --> )
And overwhelmingly the most common question was to understand, 'Where to start'... So check out this video...
Now seriously, don't take this lightly. I've been talking to a couple people here in Thailand who want to learn how to build a business online.
It just seems like a great idea right? Work online for a few hours a day, get paid, and do what ever else during the days. Now to be realistic, there are THOUSANDS of ways you can make a living online. So, when I hear someone ask, "Where do I start?" I can't help but reply with a few questions... (more...)
Business success and personal success can be measured in so many ways. We can easily get caught up in making goals focusing on numbers... When that's really NOT what drives us.
So take a moment and figure out what you REALLY want out of building a Home Based Business.
You just got to see what it means for me - Spending time with friends and family, and being able to live a (pretty cool) lifestyle...
So what Does that look like for you?? There's a whole lot of flexibility and opportunity in building a home business, but i want to challenge you to get SPECIFIC on what you want, then get focused, and make it happen.
Alright, that's it for now!
Let's make 2010 the best year EVER!

Yesterday I was one of the first
to be out on the Mountain...

Oh, if you didn't know I traveled
out to British Columbia for a working
vacation... And it has been beyond
great!
I have been able to snowboard, relax,
meet GREAT people, and even sneak in
some work.
But I wanted to share with you
why I think we (yes, you and I)
are a bit 'Crazy'... (more...)
This was a complete shock for me to learn... The Great Jim Rohn has passed away.
I remember when I was first introduced to Jim Rohn I was totally blown away by his Philosophies...
So much so I would go as far as to say he has changed the course of my life in a very positive way. For anyone who has had the priviledge of hearing his audios, or attending his seminars knows what a unique, imspirational man he has been. And if you haven't, check out his website to see what kind of impact this One man has had all over the world.
www.JimRohn.com
So many inspirational words come to mind when I reflect back on what I have learned from Jim.
A few of them I have above my desk:
"It's not the blowing of the wind, But the Set of Your Sail" (more...)
I wanted to share with you something
that really OPENED MY EYES...
As I was driving down a country road
I was listening to a radio show on
102.1 (in case you know it) about the
history of some Bands.

Just so you know, growing up I NEVER
liked history much...
But I'm starting to gain an immense
appreciation for it. Here's why;
The radio show was talking about
Such things as; What If Bono (the lead
singer for U2) quit the band for
good when they had broke up..?
What amazed me about this show is the
detail that they went into showing
the CHAIN of events leading up to great
success stories, and also stories where
people just.. well disappear.
And there always seems to be a few defining
moments in our lives where we're at
the 'fork in the road' - and are really
trying to figure out which way to go.
Well, I just wanted to point that out.
Do you know your defining moment(s)??
Are you really living life to your
fullest potential?
I feel that its good for each us to
take a step back and really look at
where we're headed and ask;
Are we truly happy with the direction
we're headed...?
Sometimes I'm asked "How did you get into building
a Home Business?" and "How did you learn
these new ways to build?"
Will doing x move me closer to my overall
'vision' goals - dreams etc...
I then ask, What is the risk with doing x
versus, what is the potential gains?
I think it's in our blood as entrepreneures
to take risks -
AS hard as it can be sometimes to take the
step forward, I was reminded that THOSE are
the times that we will look back on and say,
"Thank God I Did That"
So my appreciation for history has increased
enormously for we can get a glimsp at what
happened that made someone so successful;
(in whatever sense that means for them) and learn
from it.
So just remember that EVERYDAY we are
writing the pages of our own history...
If you have a defining moment You would
like to share - feel free to do so below

Hahaha! Cheesy I know..
So I'm back from a great trip out East. Tania and I drove all the way out to Cape Breton (put over 5000km on the new car)... and it was a great adventure. From Whales, to Cannons, camping and hikes - lots to share but I wanted to write a quick post on a lesson I learned while hiking through a coastal trail.

There was a plaque in the middle of a trail that was talking about how the coast line is riddle with a particular tree called the 'Red Spruce'. Now here's the interesting fact about this tree - (I know what a geek, but I thought this was pretty cool)
Fact of the Red Spruce:
The life expectancy of the Red Spruce is between 250-350 years, and can grow as high as 26 metres high.
The interesting thing is that in 50 years a tree can grow up to 20 metres IF it is given enough sunlight.
BUT, if it's not, the tree may only grow a mere 1 metre high.
Imagine that, same kind of tree, same lenght of time on this earth - and yet one tree can grow over 19 metres higher then the other.
It was truely awesome to stand beside two trees that were both around 50 years old (an example was shown) and see one of the trees towering at 20 metres high, and the other just a bit taller then I.

THAT got me thinking...
Isn't that so true to all forms of life, Even us - Humans. How does this relate to business? Well, it does in a big way.
I'm a big believer in that if we want to grow our businesses - we MUST get exposed and trained on new ways to do just that - build a successful business.
For the first couple years I was building my business using the traditional methods.. which worked out for the most part, but I felt like there had to be a better way to build this kind of business. And then I got a glimps of 'Light'.
I saw that the lead companies were able to generate a huge numbe of leads - SO - that showed me there really are people out there looking for what I have (a Home Based Business). What I knew I had to do, was to figure out a way to connect with those people.
As I took the time to get trained on these Business building strategies... I saw that there was a whole lot more LIGHT then I had ever expected - there was so much opportunity of how we can build this as a business.
So, I'll leave you with this though. If you feel like you are that tree who just isn't getting enough light - be willing to get exposed to AND trained on new ideas on how to build your business. There are so many ways that we can now connect with people, we shouldn't feel like have to chase down our friends, family... or even strangers!
Cheers to Training,
Taigh
Lately I've spoken to a number of people who are a bit concerned whether or not they've chosen the right company to work with - as they build their Network Marketing Company.

Network Marketing Company
This is a great question especially if your serious about your business, and want to eventually turn it into a full time focus. So I wanted to write a quick post to share my thoughts on this topic - and the one 'SECRET' ingredient to all of this...
Well, I'm not always good at writing building up to suspense, so I'll just spit it out now. The "Secret ingredient" to making sure you've chosen the right Network Marketing Company is YOU.
HUH? you might be wondering. Well, you see - as much as your upline will tell you that your product is super special and EVERYONE on the planet is going to want it... that's simply NOT the case. Every company has a TARGET market and as long as you know how to MARKET to that group of people looking for what you have to offer... you'll do just fine.
Sure there are some elements that you should be looking for when it comes to choosing the right Network Marketing Company to partner up with. Here are a few:
- Has a history of success - (stay away from "Ground-floor opportunities")
- Management team is solid and have experience to build the company
- The Products ARE in demand - so you wont have to hassel people to buy
- It's something that you agree with / can get passionate about
- The compensation is decent - you are going to be paid on your efforts and you shoudn't have to build dozens of 'teams' to make a living
OK, all of that being said... what success in the industy comes down to is YOU.
Now, I think abvious advise. But I want to be clear. It doesn't mean that you need to work harder - you need to work SMARTER.
What do I mean? Well, to build a successful Network Marketing company (independent business) you need to be building with strategies that you can feel comfortable with. Not only that - strategies that you are CONFIDENT in.
So, What strategies are you building your business with? Are you Confident in these systems that you have in place?
Just some questions to get you thinking. You see, it's not really about the company and the best super-pill. It's all about haven't the right Strategy in place.
Stay connected to this blog for more STRATEGIES on how to build your network marketing business integrating NEW strategies...
Cheers to New Strategies,

This is a response I wrote to a question I received this week (by the way, a lot of really great ones and I'm still finding time to write back to a few others
but I thought I would share this one with everyone. Here's the question:
"Given your experience in MLM what do you feel about a business that appear to only be building their customer base for their product with only the distributors being the customer?"
Hi Dave,
This is a really good question regarding how people build their MLM business. First, it has to be crystal clear that a prospect who is interested in the products is vastly different then the prospect looking for a business.
I know it seems obvious, but so many times people mix the two together. They are separate prospects - with VERY different desires.
That being said, it's important to promote to the people differently.

To lead with products or business? that is the question
You bring up a good point that most companies really focus on getting new distributors. That doesn't mean that's what you have to do, but the benefit of growing your business through other partners is duplication. (as you know).
So, if you're left with a decision moving forward how to build either a) attracting business partners who take the products and build the business or b) product users ... most opt for the business prospects.
But as you seem to have noticed - Product users ARE the life-line to our business. If you get a happy customer on your products... they will be on them for a very long time. Whereas, the business partner might get discouraged and quit.
So I definitely do recommend building the business by connecting customers with the product.
So to answer your question how do I feel about businesses that appear to only promote the 'opportunity'... I would be cautious. At the end of the day, the products are what drive our business.
You see, you can have a network marketing business for ANY product - but if it doesn't fit the model for network marketing and if people are not happy with the products - one little hiccup can really do damage to the business.
So is it normal for companies to go this way? - Well, yes and no. Distributors end up really promoting the business because of the growth potential in it... but hopefully our company stand behind the products more than anything.
I recommend dividing your marketing efforts to attract both product customers and business partners into your business. Whether that's 50/50, 30/70 or 10/90 (customers / business partners). ... depends on your goals and comfort level...
We have a powerful way of bring the products to the market. If you're passionate about the products build with the products! It can be slower growth - but still rewarding.
I hope that helps.
